Lovers of novelty and resplendent display will have an opportunity of inuulgmg to their hearts’ content on Tuesday evening, 27th. inst„ when D’Arc’s world-famed Pantomime Company commence their season in the Academy of Music. Six hundred pounds’ worth of beautiful scenery from the brush of the well-known English artist, Mr E. C. Olitherow, is said to be used in the production of the Oriental pantomime, “ Bluebeard,” which has been been specially localised and rewritten for D’Are’s Company by, M. Wilton Gonsalves. -The first scene shows the Demon’s Cave, thcli follow in succession the exterior o£ Ibritn’s Palace, Bluebeard’s Palace, the Blue Chamber, and the Jewelled Palace. So life-like are the movements of the puppets that} it is bard to realise that they are not human performers in a real pantomime. Tile musical portion is in the hands of Madame M. Barrass. Tbe drosses were designed and made .by Miss Nellie D’Arc and Miss Edith Aylmore, and the appliances 'and mechanical effects will. be managed ,by Messrs A. Blanchard and J. Natin, Tbe personal supervision of the Director (Professor P. T. Barrass) will be evident right through! the play, which promises to be one of the most' thrilling and sensational performances ever seen in Gisborne, Popular prices—3s, 2s, and Is—are to be charged. ’ The box-plan and day sales are now open at Mr- Miller’s.

On Thursday afternoon, there will be a grand special illuminated matinee, when special tariffs’ will be charged for schools and fainilies.
