WAERENGA-A-HIKA STOCK SALES There was a large attendance at the monthly stock sale at Waerenga-a hika yesterday, and recent prices were well maintained. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgety and Co. report: We held our periodical stock at Waerongaa hika yesterday. Mr Hellier Evans wielded the hammer for Messrs Dalgety and Co, for the first time, and was well received by the public. Mr J. B. Kells conducted tho sale for Messrs Common, Sh'el-

ton and Co. There was a good attendance of buyers, aud competition was brisk for all classes of stock, prices for cattle ruling fully 15 per cent better than recent sales. Sheep of good quality were in strong demand, and prices were 5 to 10 per cent, better than last sales. Full values were offered for unsold lots, upon which we consider owners placed exorbi-

tant reserves. There was an unsatisfied demand for sheep and cattle of anything like good qualily. The yarding consisted of 200 cattle and 900 sheep ; ono line of 500 sheep failed to appear. All the cattle were sold, with the exception of 20 head, at prices as follows: —Dairy cows and heifers, from £6 10s to £8 10s; empty heifers, £3 10s to £5 10s ; grade shorthorn bulls, from £5 for yearliogs to £8 10a for aged; 3-year-old steers in forward condition, £6 15s to £7 ; 2£, year-old ordinary stores, £5 15s; 2-jiear-old ordinary stores, £4 12s 6d to £5; weaners, £2 12s to £2 15s, for steers. An extra good line of dairy heifers, about 8 months old, brought £4 103, and one of special quality £4 15s. Sheep: Freezing lines of wethers, 18s 9d to 21s ; freezing ewes, 16s to 16s 2d; forward ewes, 12s to 14s ; good hoggets, in wool, 14s ; ewes, aged, with lambs, passed at 13s 6d.

Our next sale will be held on Thursday, November 12th, for which we expect good entries. On the strength of the tory prices realised yesterday, we can confidently recommend entries, partiou* larly of fat sheep,
