KFroirf .Our Own Beautiful weather now prevails, and feed is growing everywhere. - A very Beriouß accident happened at Mokomoko on Saturday. Mr G. J. White while assisting to muster sheep on his run had the misfortune to fall over a steep -cliff, and was picked up in an unconscious condition. Dr Davis was early in attendance, and stayed with the patient all day Sunday. On Monday morning there was a slight improvement. The usefulness of the telephone was very apparent in this case, assistance being quickly got fromboth Waiau and Pauariki, Mr Komp, with several men, started at onoe when the news by telephone arrived. The accident occurred a good distance away from the homestead, and Mr White had to be carried in bn a stretcher. It is to be hoped Mr White will make a rapid recovery. Mr J. N. Williams has arranged a North v. South cricket match for Saturday next, at Tokomaru. As several of the best playora on both sides will bo unable to get away to play, it will bo more of a practice snatch than representative. Later nows io regard to Mr George White, who met with a sevoro accident on Saturday, is that ho has not yot -recovered conso ouanoas. Hopos are entortained of his recovery. Mr White sustained very sevoro cuts and bruises to his head and body, and it is a wonder that he was not killed outright, for the cliff over which ho fell was fcom 100 ft to 150 ft high, He lay two or three hours at the base of the cliff before he was discovered. The accident happonei about ten miles from home, and he was carriod that distance on an .improvised Btretcher by nine ot tho station hands. Muoh sympathy is felt for; the members of his family.

Tho Waiapu Basing Club held their annual meeting on Saturday last at Mr Beedy’s Hall, Mr Kirkpatrick being in the chair. Tho balance-sheet for the previous meeting was read and adopted, showing a good credit balance. It was decided to tho fixture for the coming races on March 26th, after the Tolago Bay meeting. The committee agreed to dispense with the Pony Bace, and substitute a District Scurry for five furlongs ; also a few other alterations were made which will be duly notified to the public in the programmes. The race course is in tip-top order, and a large attendance of racehorse owners is anticipated.
