HAWKE’S BAY RACES. Per Press Association. Napier, last night. The weather was Cno and the attendance large for the first day of the Hawko’s Bay Jockey Club’s spring meeting. The sum of £5064 was put through tho totalisators. Following are the results :
Hack Hurdles.—Comfort 1, Nadador 2 Aroha 8. Won easily. Time, 3.28. Div., £4 Bs. Maiden Hack Race.—Provost Marshal 1, Spoil 2, Wet Reef 3. Won by a nose. Time, 1.33. Divs„ £1 12s and £l3 19s. King Edward Handicap.—Quarryman 1, Dexterity 2, Menura 3. Won easily. Time, 1.57 l-sth. Divs., £3 53 and £ll3s. First Handicap Hurdles. —Evening 1, Nance O’Neil 2, Media 3. The only other starter fell, and tho jockey Lind broke both collarbones. Won hard held. Time, 3.30- Div., £1 15s. Hastings Stakes. —Silkworm 1, Sir Porcival 2, Boris 3. Won by a length. Time, 51. Diva., £1 9s and £ll3s. Welter Handicap.—Cruesot 1, Taura 2, Defoe 3. Won by a length. Time, 1.54. Divs., £1 17s and £1 19s. First Hack Handicap.—Contingent 1, Idea 2, Merope 3. Won easily. Time, 1,194. Divs., £9 5s and 17s. Flying Handicap. —Rangitata 1, Madrigal 2, Gold Dust 3. Won by half a length. Time, 1.18. Divs., £2 5s and 19s.
