TRUST LANDS.
THE PAREMATA BLOCK. EMINENTLY SUITABLE FOR .CLOSE SETTLEMENT. (Special to Times,) TOLAGO BAY, last night, Messrs Macfarlane and Harding, members of the East Coast Trust Board, have just completed the inspection of the Farcmata Blocs, which is to be cut up lor close settlement and put on .the market at an early, date* In conversation with iur Harding this evening, that gentleman informed me that Mr Macfarlane amd himself had met Major Winter and gone over .the block. They found that it was eminently, suitable for close settlement, and .would cut up splendidly. “I do not know a block that .will cut up to greater advantage,” remarked Mr Harding. 11 Captain Winter made a start .with the survey this morning, and will not bo finished until the end of January, By'that time a lithographed plan will be in readiness. It is intended to cut the block up in areas ranging irom one and two acres up to 1000. There will be a great many. 40, 50, and 60-acre blocks. We are well pleased .with the prospects, and confident tha,t it .will be a great success,” The area of the block is 7,113 acres..
“ A visit was paid to Cook’s Cove and Well,” added Mr Harding, “ Mr Macfarlane and myself being accompanied by Messrs G. Kilburn ajid J, Moore. These historic places comprise a portion of the Parcmata Block, and we have decided to reserve a hundred acres for tourist purposes.” This evening, Messrs Harding and Macfarlane meet a number of Tolago Bay settlers, for the purpose of discussing several matters of importance to the district. Great dissatisfaction is" expressed in regard to .the vote for the Uawa bridge having been cancelled, and the hope was expressed that the member for the district would see that the amount was again placed on the Estimates.
