A JOCKEY’S DEATH.
Per Press Association. Christchurch, last night. An adjourned inquest on tho body of William Twomoy, who died at the hospital on September 24, was held to-day before Mr W. R. Haselden, S.M. The evidence showed that Twomey had fallen from Rainbow in the horse Club Cup at tho J Grand National Meeting, but subsequently rode in races and did ordinary jockey work. He complained of soreness in the neck. A verdict was returned that death was due to meningitis, probably induced by injuries accidentally received on August 1. NEW ZEALAND CUP.
Pearl Diver was scratched for the New Zealand Cup at 5.50 p.m. to-day.
