A FIGHTING FUND ADVOCATED. [By Telegrapn—Press AsßOoiution.j Auckland, last night. At tho annual meeting of the Aucldand j Provincial Employers’ Association to-day, * the retiring committoo doplored tho apathy exhibited by members in regard to the work and progress of the Association, and expressed tho hopo that thore would bo -i more unitod and energetic action in the future. Mr David Goldie, who presided, referred to the introduction of tho Trades Monopolies Prevention Bill aB a striking illustration of the Government’s tendenoy to pander to the working classes by the introduction of legislation inimical to t employers. He instanced what bad be-rn done in Australia by the formation of a fighting fund to check similar legislation, and urged that the employers whero possible should combine and form a solid organisation with a view of combatting tbo mischievous legislation calculated to prejudicially affect their interests. Other speakers spoke to similar offect, and tho report was adopted. Mr Goldie was elected President for the coming year.
