LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Per Press Association,, WELLINGTON, last night. Tho Council met at 2.30. Tne S-ato Fire lusurauco Bill was partly cunstuered in Committee, but no material amendments wore made.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. The House met at 7.3 U. Tne whole vote for the Lunacy and Ghancable Department passed unaltered, as also did the estimate ot tne Lauor Department. At the veto for Mines Department Mr McGowan announced tuat a Bill would bo lutroduced uudor wuich ■ a thoroughly competent Government geologist should bo appointed, aud the divided control of geological survey removed. The vote was agreerl to. At tne vote for the Department ot Agriculture, a motion by Mr Harding to reduce tho item viticulturist by £3OO as an indication that tho House does not approve of the establishment o£ a wiue industry in New Zoalund, was lost by 43 to 3.
