COMMERCIAL.
Messrs Williams and Kettle report having held their stock sale at the Matawhero yards on Thursday, when there was an average attendance. The yarding oi sheep was not large, but for this time of year it was quite up to expectations. Cattle, however, came forward in good numbers, our yards being well filled. The demand throughout was brisk, fat stock of all classes selling exceptionally well, while stores showed a big improvement on recent sales. Prices realised as follows Sheep : Fat ewes, heavy weights, made 16s 8d and 15s 6d, two-tooth wethers 133 sd, cull ewes 3s 6d, old ewes in lamb 8s 9d to 12s 6d, two-tooth ewes end wethers 13s Id, dry ewes 11s 7d. Cattle : We quote—'Weaners (medium) £2 14s, better do. £3, yearlmgs 4)3 ss, two-year-old steers £3 15a to £3 193 6d, three-year-old steers £5 2s 6d, £5 15s, up to MB sb, beef bullocks up to £lO, heifers (li»ht beef) £6 to £3 12s 6d and £1 Is, dairy cows from £S, £8 17s 6d, up to £8 ss, extra good do. up to £lO, station cows in’calf £4 2s 6d to £4 6s, do. with calf £4 17s 6d, do. heifers £4 2s. Pigs: Weaners Ss 6d 3nd 9s 6d, grown barrow £1 15s. Horses : Crocks from £1 to £3. Our special dairy sale will be held on Thursday next, September 3rd.
