WELLINGTON NEWS.
WOOLLEN COMPANY. Per Press Association. Wellington, last night. The directors of the Wellington Woollen Company have declared a dividend of 8 per cent for the year. LADIES’ GOLF. The final of tho championship in connection with the ladies’ golf tournament was played on Miramar links to-day between Mrs A. Pearce, of Wellington, and Miss Lewis, of Auckland. The weather was dull. There was a strong southerly wind, with frequent showers sweeping over the ground. Mrs Pearce, who played a magnificent short game, won with two up and one to play. Tho exhibition given; by both ladies was very fine. Miss Lewis's long drives were brilliant. HOCKEY. The first two matches of the ladies’ hockey tournament were played to-day. Hawera, two goals, beat Napier, one; Kiwi (Wellington), five, beat Nelson, one. DAMAGED RAILWAY LINE. Tho damage to the Government railway line at Mungaroa has been repaired, and the gap caused by tho land slip bridged. Through traffic will be renewed in the morning. '
