AMERICAN COMEDY CO.

Mr Fred. W. Duval, the touring manager of Stine, and Evans’ American Comedy Company, is at present in town making arrangements for the visit here. The opening night is fixed for Thursday next, August 27th, and the season is limited to three nights. The proprietor of this company is Mr Georgo Stephenson, a young Dunedinite, who has been famous for years in Eugby circles. Some months ago he sent Mr Duval to America to bring out the best talent money could procure. The present company was selected from the leading American; Theatres, and that the membors are clever a glance at the Auckland papers amply proves. They have created a perfect furore in that city, the critics being unanimous in declaring the people and the comedies to be the best yet seen in thh*colony. Mr Duval not only secured clever people, but he purchased three comediets that have been immense successes in the States. On Thursday night the initial attraction will be tho original farce comedy “ Mama’s New Husband.” This piece was played in America last season, and made more money than any other touring attraction. On Friday we are promised another mirth provoker in “ Brown’s in Town,” and on Saturday the season will .terminate with another screamer in “Where is Cobb.” Tho pieces are frankly produced for laughing purposes only. They will be freely interspersed with eongs, dances, etc., there being twenty musical numbers in each piece. The box plan will be opened al Miller’s to-morrow morning at 10 o’clock,
