Invercargill, last night.
John Murphy, traveller for Sir J. G. Ward, left Winton by train for Lumsden yesterday, and got out at a side station, a mile and a half from Lumsden, where his dead body was fouDd on the side of the line. It is supposed he fell in attempting to get aboard, sustaining injuries to his heart.
Wellington, last night.
An inquest held on the body of an asylum patient named George Ludlaw disclosed the fact that the skull was fractured. Medical evidence, however, attributed the death to congestion of the lungs. The jury added a rider suggesting that the police make inquiries as to how the skull was fractured. The man was 76 years of age and had no friends. He had only been in Porirua asylum for a few days.
