A young man, Charles Ernest Wilkinson, recently employed as a motorman on the electric trams, has been arrested on. a oharge of abducting Bessio Wilson, a girl of 16 years, He was remanded) bftil of JESO being granted. In the Supreme Court, George Bryne was sentenced to three years for forging a cheque for JEI2 12s 6d, having been convioted of similar offences at Christchurch. James Edward Wheeler was found guilty of receiving goods stolen from John Burns and Company. ‘ Sentence was deferred. William Wakefield McLeod, committed to Auckland gaol in February last, for ten years, was found dead in bed at the gaol this. morning. Ho had been suffering from a sore throat, and was treated by the gaol surgeon. An inquest i? probable.
