MUNICIPAL ABATTOIRS.

By Telegraph.—Preßs Association.

Christchurch, last night. The municipal abattoirs at Sockburn, about three miles from Christchurch, will be opened for business on August 17th. A sum of about twenty thousand pounds has been spent on it, and it is expected that six or seven thousand more will have to be found before completion. This sum, however, will include the cost of a chilling room, which it has been suggested should be erected in the city.
