The wool sales closed firm all round. During the aeries 80,000 bales were sold to Home buyors, 63,000 to Continental, 5000 to American, and 15,000 held over. Compared with May series the closing prices for fine crossbreds were 5 per cent, higher, medium 10 per cent., coarse 12i per cent, higher. Lambs’ wool is unchanged. Good greasy merinos are unchanged, faulty and inferior greasies one-halfpenny cheaper. Sydney, July 24 The first series of local wool sales has ! concluded. Good sorts were more readily taken towards the close. Medium and inferior declined fully 6 per cent, compared with the previous sales. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company has received the following cable from London, dated July 23: Tallow: Prices have fallen 6d per cwt. Wool: The averuge current London value of the undernoted descriptions of Now Zealand greasy wool are : Good merino Is Id, medium merino lid, inferior merino 9d, tine crossbred llid, medium crossbred 9|d, coarse crossbred (40’s) 7}d, coarse crossbreds (36's) 6:fd. Since the close of last sales prices are lower by id for greasy merino medium and inferior, and -Ad and Id lower for scoured merino medium and inferior ; whilst fine greasy crossbred is par ana id por lb higher, medium greasy crossbred id per lb higher, coarse greasy crossbred id and Id per lb higher. Scoured sorts are par and id per lb lower, crossbred medium slipe is id lower, and greasy crossbred aDd m'erino lambs are id and Id per lb higher.
