FARMERS’ UNION CLUB.
The following letter was sent to Mr Okas. Dunlop, under date July 18th, 1903 “ Dear Sir,—As I understand that it is being freely asserted that I approached you after the Farmers’ Union Club meeting this morning, and asked you not to hold your offer open for another week, and as such assertions are false, may I ask you to contradict this statement, and give me permission to publish your answer ? —Thanking you in anticipation, I am, dear Sir, yours faithfully, LISSANT CLAYTON. The following is the reply sent by Mr Dunlop to Mr Clayton “ Dear Sir,—ln reply to yours of Saturday’s date, I may say, that your denunciation of the statements you refer to, because of their falsity, is quite justified. .The offer 1 made to the Farmers’ Union Club ,was only open until the members bad an opportunity of accepting or rejecting it last Saturday ; so clearly there is no question of withdrawal in the matter. Mr Lysnar had no authority from me to state that I would wait for a week until Mr Ilarding considered .whether he would make an offer or not. You are at liberty, to make any use you • please of this reply-—Yours truly, . CHAS. DUNLOP.
