WAIAPU COUNTY COUNCIL.

(Special to the Times.)

Waipiro Bay, last night. An ordinary meetiug of tho Waiapu County Council was held at tho Council Chambers, Waipiro, to-day. Thors were present: Mr T. E. Sherwood (chairman), und Crs T. S. Williams, A. B. Williams, absence was grantod to Crs Wallis and Henderson. Amongst a large amount of incoming correspondence was the following A letter from Mr Hindmarsh, resigning his seat on the Council; also a letter from the Boturning Officer, stating that Mr E. B Murphy had been elected to fall the vacancy created by Mr Bindmarsh’s resignation. „ _ T J The Commissioner of Crown Lana wrote forwarding a schedule of accruod laud revenue. . The Enginoor stated that proposals for expenditure had been forwarded. Tho Chief Engiueor for Boads wrote stating that all amounts voted for expenditure in the couuty had been authorised for expenditure oither by tho Council or tho District Enginoor. Tho Secretary of tho Cook Hospital Board wrote intimating that tho Waiapu County’s share of tho current year's expenditure would be T 194. The Department of Agriculture wrote forwarding slaughter licenses. Thu Telegraph Department wrote conveying statement of rovonuc and expenditure of tho Ktihukura tolophone lino, and returning .£ll, tho amount paid as guarantee by tho Council. The District Eugineor forwarded a circular calling attention to provisions of agreement relating to grants on subsidy. °Tho Valuor-Gonoral forwarded valuation rolls. Tho Cook County Council applied for payment of To 5s 7d, being the Waiapu County's share of tho cost of administering tho business of the Licensing Tho Engineer’s report stated that fair progress had beon mado with works in hand. Cr A, B. Williams drew attention to the culverts getting stopped in times of heavy rain, and iutjiiired whether the Council thought it advisable that largor openings should be provided. After somo discussion it was decided that larger culverts should be gradually provided as tho funds would permit. The Chairman said lie considered it was now too late in the season to undertake the construction of groynes or other protective works at Kaimanga. Ho proposed that the work should bo deferred until tho spring. This was seconded by Cr T. S. Williams and carried. Cr A. B. Williams gave notice that at next meoting he would proposo that a general rate of Id in tho T bo mado for tho coming year. Accounts amounting to T 490, including C. H. McCracken T2S6 and Bobert McNeil TBO, were passed for payment.
