Small Bird Nuisance.

Per Press Association,

Invercargill, last night. Delegates from local bodies mot again to-day re the small bird nuisance, and passed a motion to leave the work of destruction to the Stock Department. The representatives of tho borough did not fall in with this. The Act forbids the laying of poison within municipalities, and therefore the residents were powerless to aid in diminishing the pests. The meeting adjourned until a reply had been receivod from the Stock Department. The intention is that the Department should do the work, bill the district for the cost, and that a rate be levied as for charitable aid to cover it. The Act provides that if the local bodies do not take action Government shall, and charge them with tho cost, so that the proposal is equivalent to the local bodies saying they will not destroy the birds. -
