The case against Wilfred Badger, Christchurch, solicitor, for criminal libel, was commenced this morning before Air .Justice Williams.; it is alleged that Badger slated that a certain warrant to sue, filed in Court, was forged by if. .Slater, Christchurch solicitor. The plea for the defence is truth and justification, Later. At the Supreme Court to-day tho charge against Wilfred Badger, solicitor, of criminal libel against Henry Slater, another solicitor, was partly heard. Tho caso is being taken before Justice Williams, Justice Heiirdston having boon subpoenaed ns

a witness by tho defence. Mr Jeilicoe appeared for the accused. In the case for tho prosecution evidence was led to show

that Slater, who was acting in a case against Badger in respect to a trusteeship, had detained property, signed warrant to sue from his principal, and had made a copy for office use. By a clerical error this copy was filed in Court instead of the original, and it was alleged that, in letters by accused, ho charged Slater with “ forgery or quasi forgery.” Tho case will be resumed to-morrow.
