INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION.

Wellington, last night. The Industrial Association carried a | resolution drawing the attention of Government to the need of the manufacturing interests being represented in the Legisla tivo Council, aDd trusts that in making further appointments due consideration will be given to the request of the deputation which will wait upon the Premier to place the matter before him.
The Industrial Association discussed the question of the City Council placing conI tracts for electric cars and boilers for a power house outside tho colony. One speaker said that in view of the statement made some time ago by the Mayor that a number of the curs would he constructed in the colony, he had imported special appliances for building ears. Crs Luke and Winder declared that the Council | acted in the best interests of the city ard [ ratepayers in coming to the conclusion it did, and, further, were in danger of compensation being claimed by other contractors if the boilers were not in place at a specified date. As to rolling stock, tile Council ordered what was necessary for the initial stages of the new service, the other stock as required to be obtained locally.
