At a meeting of the City Council a salary of IMOO wa3 voted to the Mayor. Some discussion took place on tho case of Mr H. J. Walter, a former mayor. When on his | action the late Mr 11. S. Fish was ousted from tho mayoral chair as being interested in a sub-contract, tho Council refused to vote Walter the usual salary. As Walter is now in indifferent health and circumstances, he asked for consideration of his claim to the remuneration ho was then deprived of. The Finance Committee hud a recommendation to make, but tho matter was referred hack to tho committeo for further consideration as to the legal position.
