FROZEN MEAT COMPANY.

Per Press 'Association Christchurch, last night. A meeting of shareholders of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company to-day decided to increase tbo capita, by X 50,000, divided into 5000 shaves of ten pounds each for the purpose of starting freezing works at Tiraaru. Thero was somo opposition to the proposal, as it was considered inadvisable to enter into competition with the Christchurch Meat Company, which has already established works at that town. Tho directors, however, said thero was plenty of room for two companies. Professor Brown, a largo shareholder, urged that during the past ten years the sums written oil machinery, varying from 6 per cent, in 1892 to 3 1-3 in 1902, wero not nearly sufficient, and that thero should be more reserve fund. Sir G. Clifford, chairman of directors, said that the low reserve was justified by tho fact that tho company did not do speculafcive business.
