THE BAND ROTUNDA

(To the Editor of the Times.) Sib,— A letter appeared in a recent issue of your paper stating that although a baud rotunda had beeu erected, after a deal of antagonism, at the Recreation Ground, the Rifles Band preferred p aying on the beach last Sunday rather than on tho structure erected for tho benefit of the public and tho bands. I wish to state that tho Rifles Band had no option of playing on the rotunda, as the Borough Council, rightly or wrongly, bad decided that tho rotunda was to be opened by tho City Band only, at an early date : consequently we were debarred from playing on tho rotunda until the City Band (not both bands, as should be the case) had carried out the Council’s suggestion. The Rifles Band is only too willing to cater for the public, aud certainly should be asked to take part in the opening of the rotunda on Thursday nest. “ Let ’em all come. 1 am, etc.,

Metronome,
