Auckland, last night.

At the annual meeting of the Chnmber of Commcrco to-day Mr H. Upton, the chairman, dealt with tho quostion of conciliation and arbitration. Ho referred to the Conciliation Boards having dropped out, and said it was open to;doubt whether the arbitration development would last much longer than the conciliation experiment!. Neither court nor union could long override) the principle of supply and demand. The meeting resolved to ask the council the Chamber to consider whether tho Chamber should not take tho necessary steps to be heard in tho Arbitration Court during trade disputos, in order io fully and fairly represent the interests of the community as a whole.
