Charles Frederick Jentil, an indent agent, aged 65, was found dead in his office at Customhouse Quay this evening. He had not been seen since Tuesday ovening. Deceased had been ailing for some months. Ho was foi-merly accountant to L.yon and Flair. Tho Kohinoor dredge obtained 84oz 14dwt for 120 hours’ work. Ashburton, last night. At a representative meeting of business people to night a resolution was passed urging Government to establish telephonic communication with Christchurch, Hokitika, last night. At the Magistrate’s Court to day several sawmillers were charged on the information of the Crown Lands Itanger with casting sawdust in certain rivers contrary to the fishery conservation regulations. Defendants were fined £!> Is and costs. Notice of appeal was given. A similar information against the some defendants was recently dismissed by the Magistrate at Grcyinouth. Wanganui, last night. Tho Wanganui and West Coast Rifle Association meeting was continued to-day. Winslado, of Wanganui, won the aggregate ; Caroy, of Pa tea, was second, and Perrin, of Palrnorston North, third. The Patea and Palmerston North teams won the teams mutch.
