FARMERS’ UNION
| Per Press Association | Palmerston North, last night. A meeting of the Colonial Executive Farmers’ Union to day resolved to communicate with the Premier, regretting that farmer representatives were not appointed to tbo Upper House, mid hoping that such appointments would yet be made. It was decided to endorse the resolution of the South Canterbury that an advisory board bo appointed in connection with the frozen meat trade, and urging farmers to ship only through agents who are not buyers in the colony and sellers in London, The following other matters were dealt with : Minister of Railways to ho asked to reduce the high railage rate on frozen meat and bye products ; adulteration of woollen goods ; branding shoddy manufactures, eradication of weeds, Maori and Crown lands, free railway carriage of agriculture, salt for weed eradication, fire and accident mutual insurance, seed oats for Commonwealth, remounts for British and Indian armies, injury to stock by violent application of the Westinghouse brake. A levy of one shilling per member was struck for the ensuing year.
