ADDINGTON SALES
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. There was a fair yarding and a good attendance at Addington market to-day. Fat cattle : 159 were entered, and met a good demand. Steers brought £6 15s to £ll, and £l3 for extra quality; heifers, £6 to £lO ; cows, £5 5s to £8 os ; beef, 26s to 28s 6d per 1001 b.
Fat sheep: There was an average yarding. Freezing sorts were eagerly competed for, and brought good prices, but iu other lines the market was easier. Freezing wethers brought 15s 6d to 19s 3d; ewes, 13s 6d to 16s; butchers’ best ewes, 12s to 14s ; others, from 8 s to 11s.
Fat lambs : About 1500 were penned, the quality on the whole showing an improvement. There was fair competition in all classes at rates scarcely differing from those ruling last week. Freezers brought l'2s 6d to 15s Bd, and butchers’ 9s to 13s.
Pigs: There was a medium entry, Baeoners brought from 45s to 655, equal to 5d per lb ; porkers, £3 2s to £4 2s, equal to old to 6d ; stores, 22s 6d to 29s ; weaners, 13s 6d to 21s.
