Bannerman, in the House of Commons, said the King’s speech referring to "Venezuela curiously omitted to j mention Germany. Sir H. C. Bannerman trusted the relations had improved, and enquired as to the effect of the Brussels Convention on Queensland sugar. Ministerialists below the gangway faintly cheered Sir H. C. Bannermaivs j mention of dissatisfaction at Mr Brod- | rick’s army scheme. Mr Baitour reiterated that the Powers 1 had been forewarned that Great Britain would never penalise colonial sugar. Thev did not protest, therefore, and the British condition of ratification stands. Venezuela would have played odc against the other had Great Britain and Germany acted separately.
