CYCLE SPORTS.

At the Cycle Sports, hold to-day in the Basin Reserve, at which Martin, Sutherland and Palmer were competitors, the principal events resulted : Two mile 3 handicap : Sutherland, scr, 1 ; Martin, 40yds,‘J ; Holland, 8. Time, smin 17sec. Five miles championship ; Sutherland 1, Martin 2, Holland 3. Time, 1-lrnin losec. SUPREME COURT. At the Supreme Court to-day the Chief Justice granted a decree nisi in the suit for dissolution of marriage, brought by Jane Rollo, of Dannevirke, against Arthur Rollo, on the grounds of drunkenness and desertion. HOME FOR FALLEN WOMEN. A meeting of delegates from the different bodies interested met to day, and passed a resolution in favor of the establishment of a home for fallen women in the city. APPOINTMENTS. Mr 11. H. Kirk, M.A., assistant inspector of native schools, was to-night aypointed professor of biology at Victoria College, at a salary of Jt‘7oo per annum. By the appointment of Mr A. Graham as stationmastor at Queenstown several transfers in the Railway Department have beeu made necessary. Mr A. Goghliri, of Now Plymouth, succeeds Mr Graham at the Bluff, and Mr Guy, of Ouobunga, takes Mr Coghliu’s place. Mr Cole, clork at Onehunga, succeeds Mr Guy.
