GARDEN PARTY AND CONCERT.
3t Thcro wan a largo attendance at th< harden Party held at the Itev. H. Williams' grounds, Te liau, last evening, in 18 aid of the funds of the Holy Trinity ,a Church. The grounds were brilliantly a illuminated with incandescent lights, and ® the scene throughout tbo evening was a -* most animated one. A large marquee had r been erected lor refreshments, and the 8 following ladies, who wero in charge, were 1 kept busy during the evening : -Mesdames T. A. Coleman, E. I). Smith, Matthews, ! Luttrell, Ferris (2j, Misses Townley, Ferris, Fridges, Sampson (2), Poswillo, Arm--1 strong, Maunsell, and Norris. The concert programme was an excellent nne, and the different numbers were received with much applause. The following items wero contributed : March, “ llimutaka,” City Band; song, “Awake,” Mr F. Teat; “ Oompah,” Mr H. E. Hill; trio, “The Wreath,” Mr and Mrs A. F. Kennedy and Miss Williams ; song, “ The Dream Angel,” Miss Bright ; violin solo, “ Mazurka do Concert,” Miss VVellsted ; song, “ Tell her I love her so,” Mr Kane. Selection, City Band; song, “ Dove’s Garden,” Mr G. C. Lyttleton; song, “ Sometimes,” Miss Williams ; song, “ What Might Have Been,” Miss ! Grey ; song, “On Deck,” Mr Barlow ; National Anthem, City Band. Much interest centred in the appearance of Misses Wellsted and WilHajms, and both young ladies created a favorable impression. Miss Wellsted’s vioiin solo was played in a most finished manner, and Miss Williams’ song “ Sometimes ” was much enjoyed. Tho accompaniments wore played by Miss Boyian, and E. N. Sidebottom, J. H. Gittos, and E. Chrisp. At the conclusion of the concert, Captain Ferris, on behalf of the vestry, thanked the public for their attendance, and also expressed appreciation of tho services of those who had contributed towards the concert programme, as well as to Mr and Mrs Williams for tho kindness they had shown to the visitors.
