By, Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. LONDON, Feb. 11, Owen, secretary to the New Zealand Premier .Surprise Mining Company, -was found guilty, of embezzlement, and sentenced .lo eighteen months’ hard labor.

(A London correspondent, referring to the above ease early in January, stated that Inspector Fenton, of the city police, was leaving London for Lisbon, where Mr .william Parker Owen, the secretary of a number of City companies, will lie handed over to him. Owen is charged with embezzling large sums in cornicet on with the GJeurock Company, and a New Zealand goldmining company, and lie will he brought to Loudon for ■trial. The sum involved is said to amount to several thousand pounds. Hating received the necessary documents through the Foreign OUice, the Lisbon authorities have granted .the extradition of Mr Owen.

The only, company answering to the description of the Glenrook was the Indian Glenrcck (Wynaad) Company, which was formed out of the old New Zealand Glenrock. At the same offices in London are those of the Prerntei and the Premier Sunrise, both New Zealand companies. On making enquiries at these offices, the writer was informed that- they were the companies referred to, that Mr Owen had been secretary, that a new secretary had been appointed, and that the extent oi the defalcations had not yet been discovered.
