AG RIG ULT URAL STATISTICS. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. To-night’s Gazette contains figures prepared by the Department of Agriculture showing the area of wheat and other grain crops for threshing for 1902 3, and the estimated yields per acre. The area of wheat is 194,455 acres, estimated to yield 28 bushels per acre, making a total estimated yield of 5,441,940 bushels. The area of oats is 483,059 acres, estimated to yield 35 bushels per acre, or a total estimated yield of 16,928,005 bushels. Of barley there are 27,921 acres, estimated to yield 47 bushels per acre, making a total estimated yield of 1,033,077 bushels. A RECORD SALE. At the auction sale to-day fifty-four draught horses were sold at an average of £'6Q. This is supposed to be a record. A GOVERNMENT PURCHASE. The Government having decided to take the Elaxbourno estato, a well-known Marlborough property, for land for settlement-, a formal notice to that effect appears in to-night’s Gazette. The classification is set down as follows—first class, 50UO acres, second class 23,000, third class 28,155. COMMERCEDuring the year ended 31st December, 638 vessels, with a tonnage of 1,089,197 tons, entered the various ports of the colony, and Oil vessels of 1,058,771 tons departed. During last year the imports to the colony were valued at L 11,323,480, against L 11,861,457 during 1901. Wellingtons heads the list oi ports, with imports to the value of L 3,124, 1 771, Auckland L 3,084,085, Dunedin L 956,230, Lyttelton L 1,745,273. The exports during the year wore valued at L 13,633,077, against L 12,881,424 in the previous year. Wellington exports wore valued at 412,055,868, Auckland 412,091,018, Lyttelton 412,382,429, Dunedin 411,018,294. SUDDEN DEATH.

Emma Iggulden, aged 50 years, employed in the Government Priming Office, was found dead at her lodgings. Medical evidence at the inquest showed that doath was due to heart disease.
