LAWN TENNIS.

At a committee meeting of the Gisborne Lawn Tennis Club, held last night, it was decided to hold the Championship Meeting on the 19th, 20th, aud 21st of February, entries for which will closo on the previous Saturday, J4th February. Tnu intention is to play the Men’s Championship on Thursday, and the Lin, lies' uu the Friday, leaving cue finals of both to be played off on the Saturday afternoon, it is expected that there will be good entries in both events, as, besides the town players, there are several entries spoken of us coming from the East Coast. Given tine weather, some very fair play shuuni be witnessed. The Club have to thank jjr. Craig tor instituting the championship, and for his energy m raising funds to provide the two cups. The Ladies’ Championship has been won twice running by Mrs H. N. Watson, and Mr W. J. Barlow has been successful iu the Men’s Championship for two years past.
