EAST COAST MOUNTED RIFLES
THE ANNUAL ENCAMPMENT.
Glorious weather still prevails for the camping of the East Coast Mounted Eifies at Messrs Barker’s. Lieutenant Hutchinson was in command yesterday, owing to Capt, Oolebourne’s absence. Lieut. Beere was tho officer in charge, with Sergeant Leggett as orderly sergeant and Corporal Long as orderly corporal. In the morning the company were instructed in new drill, and in the afternoon outpost duty was gone through among tho hills. On Tuesday night Sergt.-Major Tuck gavo a very interesting lecture on outpost duty illustrated on the blackboard, and it was much appreciated by officers and men.
This afternoou the public are extended a hearty invitation to visit the camp at Makauri. Afternoon tea will be provided, and the parade will be held early in the afternoou in order to give members an opportunity to entertain the visitors. Tho proceedings will be wound up with a concert, and the proceeds will be given in aid of the Hospital. Sinclair’s brakes will run to tho encampment this afternoon, leaving town at two o’clock. Passengers are requested to book beforo 11 a.m. Messrs Redstone and Son’s brakes and coaches will also run during the day.
