At yesterday’s wool sale good sorts wero very firm. Faulty merinos wero a little irregular. Tho following clips sold : Mangotoro 61, Akitio 6;, Raukawa 7i|d, Firipama 91d, Wcstlauds 22Ad. Up to dato 38,100 balos have boon catalogued and 36,280 sold
Wellington, last night. The Agent-General cables as follows : “Thoroisa dull sale for all qualities of mutton. The average price to-day is: Canterbury sd, Dunedin, Southland and Wellington Meat Export Company 4Jd, / other North Island 4«d, River Plato 4,jd, United States 3ifd. There is good demand for prime quality of lamb. The Australian is very mixed quality. The average price of new season’s North Island is 6?Vd. Beef is depressed. Supplies of American chilled beef are large. New Zealand hinds 4-jd, fores 3{rd. Butter is dull. The price to-day is 103 s per cwt. New Zealand is giving satisfaction to buyers. Hemp is steady, but dull in distant deliveries. The price of Wellington grade on spot is £'dl per ton, January to March shipments 9. Cocksfoot seed is quiet at 64s per cwt. Buyers are not keen to do business in cocksfoot seed.”
