A t, the Christchurch Cycling Club’s meeting yesterday thero was fine weather and a large attendance. Great interest was taken in the match betwoon Martin and Sutherland. The first distance in the match, one mile, was won oy Sutherland who, after a painfully slow race jumped at the right moment, and he left his opponent badly in the second distance. In the twenty miles a number of accidents occurred, and after completing about fifteen miles Martin retired, leaving Sutherland to win the purse of .£SO and the wager of j£2s a side.
