A Widow’s Death

By Tolograph—Press Association. Oarnaru, last night. A singular fatality occurred this morning. Mrs Mary Swanson, an oldorly widow, fell down a flight of stairs at a houso whoro sho wa3 engaged as nurso, while carrying a full bucket in one hand and a jug in the othor. Tho jug was broken, and Mrs Swanson foil across a jagged picco of it, which severed tho carotid and intornal jugular artorieß of tho neck. Modical aid was promptly on tho spot. Tho sovorod vessels wore ligaturod and othor remedios applied, but tho patient succumbed to loss of blood and convulsions, after lingering threo hours. An inquest will bo held to-morrow. Deceased was a very old and much respected resident of Oarnaru.
