AN UNCHARITABLE MOTION.
By Tolegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. Mr C. Allison, Town Clerk of Sydenham, and one of the candidates for Christchurch City, addressed a meeting of electors at the Choral Hall this evening. He adversely criticised the Government, and opposed the principle of the refereudum. A motion was carried thanking him for his address, but expressing the opinion that the meeting had no confidence in him. COACHING ACCIDENT.
An accident happened to tho CulvordenHanmer Springs coach to-day, when returning from the Springs. Descending «the cutting into tho Waiau river, tho coach took charge of the horses, which galloped down the hill and across the bridge, the coach overturning on the other side. l-'our ladies were in the coach, but escaped unhurt. METROPOLITAN SHOW. Entries generally for the Metropolitan Show are larger than those for the Jubilee Show, which was record, but the exact figures will not bo known for some days. The principal increases are m horses, cattle, and sheep.
