Objection having been lodged ugumst 200 names on tho electoral roll, the Magistrate was applied to tins morning to oruer that they bo struck otf. Counsel for some of the parties summonod claimed that the proceedings were premature, as no nutiou uud been given Che parties objected to as provided m tile new Electoral Act, and because tho id days wherein those objected to may show cuuse tor retention ot their names had not lapsed. The Magistrate upheld this, and the case was dismissed. Tiio Registrar said there would not now he time to give the required uutico before the election. For the utjjecturs it was claimed that the liogistrur cun strike utf the names if, after Id days’ notice, tho person objected to does not substantiate his ciuuu. Tno objections were lodged on October 27.
