LORO ROSEBERY’S DIFFERENCES.
DECLINES TO EMBARK UPON ILLUSORY DISCUSSION.
By Telegraph—Press Association —Oopyrighi London, Ocfc. 13.
Lord Rosebery, at the unveiling of the Glasgow statue to Gladstone by Lord Thorneycrofc, eulogised Mr Gladstone’s lofty ambition, courage, industry, and faith.
Mr Black, member of the Houso of Commons for Banffshire, invited Lord Rosebery to givo an assurance that his differences with Sir H. Campbell Buunermau would not prevent their future cooperation.
Lord -Rosebery replied that the policy enunciated in his Chesterfield speech, which Sir H. C. Bannerman oanned and condemned, embodied the only practicable and sensible Liberal policy. If the Liberals adopted it he was willing to withdraw and leave others to execute, but while the truo policy was excommunicated he must remain.
Mr Black tried to elicit answers to hypothetical questions regarding Lord Rosebery’s attitude in the event of the general elections, but Lord Rosebery declined to embark upon an illusory discussion.
