GANGS OF THIEVES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Aug. 28. A gang of thieves are robbing discharged soldiers between Ladysmith and Maritzburg. Stringent immigration restrictions are being enforced at Beira. Fifty Greeks and Austrians wero not allowed to proceed to Rhodesia, the Chamber of Mines at Salisbury stating it was undesirable they should do so.
Many ingonious robberies have been perpetrated at Johannesburg. In ono case a bag containing 500 sovereigns was stolen from tho safe of the National Bank, being roplaced with a bag of foreign coins. Tho Boer Generals return to London on Saturday.
