SUPREME COURT.

ASSAULT AND ROBBERY. (By Tolegraph—Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. Tho criminal sittings concluded to-day, with the exception of the ro-trial of W. F. Lowry, for alleged assault with intent on a young woman. Tho jury roturned a verdict of not guilty in tho case of James Piper, charged with assault. In the South Dunodin assault cases Phimoster, Goddis,. McDonald, and Willis, already found guilty of one cjjargo, pleaded guilty to throe other charges of assault, and woro sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. Mr Justice Williams said that if thoro was a continuance of this class of offonce ho would, if a person were found guilty, have no hesitation in ordering a flogging. In the case of Lund, a returned trooper, charged with stealing medals from a veteran, a sentenco of two months was imposed.
