TROOPER IN TROUBLE.
GUILTY OF ROBBING AN OLD MAN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. Frederick Lund and Edward Robinson, two troopers who returned by the Orient, were charged to day with stealing a Crimean veteran’s watch, medals, and money. Tho prosecutor could not recognise the troopers, and as the only evidence against Robinson was that ho was waiting outside a pawn shop whore Lund tried to dispose of a watch, tho case against him was dismissed.
Lund then pleaded guilty to stealing tho watch, but deniod taking other articles, and was remanded to tho Supreme Court for sontcnce, Lund then pleaded guilty to stoaling a pair of blankets from tho quarantine camp at Tahuna Park, and his solicitor argued that it was only a technical theft, accused not appreciating tho fact, as a host of other troopers took away their blankets.
