GISBORNE LANDS
THE NEW BILL READ A FIRST TIME. REFERRED DIRECT TO COMMITTEE. [By Tolograph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. Tho East Coast Native Trust Lands Bill (Sir Joseph Ward) was read a first tirno, and referred direct to a Select Committee.
Sir Joseph Ward explained that the Bill doalt with tho Trustees of Gisborne lands and tho Bank of Now Zealand, and unless action was taken before tho 29th inst., it
was probable great loss would result to all concerned. One meeting of tho Committee would bo sufficient to deal with tho matter.
