A SECRET ENQUIRY.

QUESTION DISCUSSED IN THE HOUSE.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. In the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon Mr Fisher asked Sir Joseph Ward whether he would ask tho Transport Commission to alter its decision to hold its sitting with closed doors.

Mr Meredith said that he could not see why a member of tho House should not bo allowed to attend the sittings of tho Commission, and ho moved that it was a breach of tho privilege of tho House to exclude members of the House.

Sir Joseph Ward promised to put tho question asked by Mr Fisher. He pointed out, however, that Government could not interfere with tho conduct of tho Commission.

After a short discussion, Mr Meredith's motion was lost by 35 to 18.
