DUNEDIN NEWS.

A NEW STEAMER,

By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. The Westport Coal Company have let a contract to Swan, Hunter and Co., New-castle-on-Tyne, for a steel steam collier of 1600 tons, with (loaded) a speed of ten knots, and ail the latest improvements. The vessel will be used for the Westport and Lyttelton coal trade. SUPPOSED SUICIDE.

The body of Richard C. Davey, who disappeared over a month ago, after a quarrel with his wife and daughter, was found in the harbor on the east side not very far from his residence. He evidently committed suicide, as was surmised. The body was amongst the piles of the old Vauxhall jetty.
