THE PRICE OF POLLARD.
(By Telegraph—Press Association. (Telephoned from Napier.) Dunedin, last night. The Flourmillers’ Association has raised the price of pollard from £5 10s to J 66, at which price it is selling freely for shipment. Bran is nominally at £5 ss, but none is obtainable, and probably £5 to £6 would bo procurable. SHORT-WEIGHT BREAD.
There was a field day for bakers in the Police Court to-day. Joseph Campbell and David Auld wero fined 40sand 17s 6d costs, to be divided between them, for making for sale a 21b loaf, which was l£oz short weight. In the case against A. S. Miller it was contended that two 21b loaves joined together were over 41b, but when pulled apart ono was over and tho other under 21b. The chargo was based on tho latter. A fine of 40s and costs was imposed. W. 11. Latham was fined 20s and costs for not having a loaf legibly stamped, and James Anderson was fined tho same amount for having on Roman numerals instead of Arabic figures. Tho bread in each case was full weight. William Wright, Daniel Georgeson, and James Samuel were each fined 20s and costa for not having proper weights in their cart. The broad in each case was correct weight. James Bewton was finod 5s for having an unstamped weight.
