At a mooting of tho Farmers’ Union yestorday it was decided to hold a special mooting in a fortnight’s timo, for tho purpose of selecting a Parliamentary candidate. At present two members of tho branch are announced lor the Palmerston cleotorato, and they have pledged themselves to abide by tho decision of tho branch, tho one receiving the least nutnbor of votos agrooing to retire from tho contest. SUDDEN DEATH. A well-known and respected settlor of Halcombo, Hy. Cornfoot, died suddenly in tho train yestorday, while travelling homo from a trip in tho Taihape district. Death is supposod to bo duo to over osertion. _________
