TRADE WITH SOUTH AFRICA,

Christchurch, last night. What is hoped will he a regular trade wilh South Atrica was opened up by tho Christchurch Meat Company, with a large shipment by the s.s. Sussex, of which tho principal lines were 31,500 carcases of mutton, 3928 sides of bacon, and 2000 hums. Tho steamer coming to Lyttelton to receive this cargo onabled shipments to be made of preserved meats, butter, poultry, etc., for tho carriago of which and other produce succeeding vessels of the same line will be available. FATAL ACCIDENT. A three-year-old girl, F. G. Craddock, had her skull fractured by a roll of oilcloth falling on her. Sho was killod instantaneously. IMPLEMENT WORKS. Iho Southland Implement and Engineering Company, of Invercargill, changed hauas to-day as far as tho implcmout department is concerned, the purchasers being Cooper and Duncan, Ltd., who intend shifting tho factory to Christchurch, as being a better contro for distribution.
