DUNEDIN NEWS.
A PRISON EB ESCAPES. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Dunedin, last night. A young man who was in the Alexandra Sontii lock-up for drunkenness dug a hole through tho stone wall during the night and escaped. He has not yet been recaptured.
A RACING MATTER. The Committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club received an application for registration from the committee of the newlyformed I’orljure Park Racing Club, and it was resolved to forward the application to the Racing Conference, without offering opposition.
STUDENTS' CARNIVAL. The University students held their usual carnival in connection with the capping '•cremony this evening, when the Agricultural Call was packed to the doors. The programme was on the usual lines of skits and sketches of public men and events.
